Had a delightful 16 days off for Xmas and New Year and I am so sad to be back at work. Had serious Sunday night blues!
Christmas was very nice and very relaxed. I'd love to say I got a load of stuff done and I was super productive but I'd be lying. I spent most of it relaxing, watching movies, playing too much Sims and generally revelling in the fact it was too cold outside to be doing anything else. I did have a bit of a cold for a fair few days which knackered me out as well but feeling much better now. Christmas itself was fairly busy. I did nice nibbles in the morning and cooked the big Christmas lunch, and did more nibbles and drinks on Boxing day night so I did contribute but it did start to get a bit tiring! New Years was good. We just went round a friends house with another couple and all played board games. Luckily I'm a professional Articulate player so that distracted me from worrying about drinking. Really not missing alcohol though. Samuel gave up smoking on New Years day, really hope he can keep it up but I know how hard he finds it :( would love it if we could both be non-smokers. Will update on his progress next week.
We've had the nicest Christmas break together. I feel luckier than ever to have a partner who is my best friend. He's been able to have a bit of time off too which is a relief as his job is outdoors and it was so cold for one week that it breaks my heart thinking of him working outside. It's slightly warmer this week! We're both just really focussing on March for the baby and also so it warms up properly and gets lighter and his job is nice again. I'm 31 weeks this week. 9 weeks to go give or take. I've heard first babies are usually late but also you don't want to rely on them being late preparation wise. I think in the next couple of weeks I will start to write my birth plan up and maybe even pack my hospital bag just be to safe. I don't think she's going to arrive anytime soon but it's peace of mind.
I start my ante-natal classes this week - tomorrow night is our first one so that should be good. Hopefully we will meet some nice people. Most other people I've spoken to say the class is more for meeting friends rather than what you learn about labour but hopefully we will do both. They're every Tuesday night for the next 6 weeks. Hopefully there will be some young couples although I'm guessing we will definitely be at the lower end of the age scale but you never know.
I'm getting pretty big now. Am definitely in need of some larger trousers and t-shirts. Everything is just a bit too snug. I am starting to panic that I'm going to have a giant baby but just going to try and eat as healthy as possible for the remainder. It doesn't help that I am hungry constantly. I can't tell if it's my body genuinely needing food or if I'm just being greedy. Greedy I imagine, but have to curb it in a bit as I really don't want a 10 pound baby.
She does such big kicks now. Especially at night when I'm trying to get to sleep but I never get cross with her even if I pretend it's annoying. I love feeling her little limbs stick out and I love Samuel getting a good feel too. He's always reaching for my tummy to see what she's up to. We feel very close to her already and can't wait for her to get here. She is already so loved <3 she got some presents for Christmas, a couple of outfits and a couple of teddies including a gorgeous little 'Mabel' penguin from her godmother. I have also brought her some bedding for her cot so her room is very nearly ready for her. Have ordered a mattress and just need a car seat and we've talked about potentially investing in a fancy baby monitor with a breathing pad detector and video system. Don't know if all that is necessary but I think it will be nice to be able to watch her and it's two way so you can talk to her from downstairs...
Trying to just get organised now it's January, learn as much as I can from my classes, keep reading my labour/baby books but also generally trying to enjoy this time before her arrival. Getting as much sleep in as possible. God I'm going to miss sleep. Do any babies like nice long lie ins?
