Mabel at 4 months
I am annoyed I haven't made time to write this more but am going to really try and do it monthly!
Time is flying by. Here is where we're at:
Feeding
I'm still breastfeeding! Which is lovely but brings new the stress of when to stop as it's pretty addictive! But I think I will be aiming to finish at 6 months. I feed her every 2-3 hours. She gets distracted in the days as there's so much to look at now and she's still having consistent night feeds. I have very recently started to give one formula feed before bed just to see if she sleeps a bit longer! Very excited to start weaning her...
Sleeping
Her sleeping in the day is pretty good. I live by the two hour rule so when ever she wakes up we have two hours of playing then it's back down for a nap. Normally that's for 45 mins. I would love her to have a slightly longer one in the afternoon so I'm encouraging it as much as I can but she never wants longer!
Bedtime is currently about 8. Bathtime is 7 then bottle. This is our only solid routine... 80% of the time she goes down fairly easy, sometimes wakes up 45 mins later and needs settling again but she's getting better.
She's not even nearly sleeping through yet, still waking twice on average around 12 and around 3 then wakes around 7. But very good, never cries just stirs and needs feeding then goes back to sleep. She's in her big cot now but still in our bedroom. Most mornings I put her in with me after her second feed but trying not too. I just love the cuddles.
She still has her dummy, only at sleep times and a cuddly bunny which she uses as a comforter.
Playtime
She is enjoying some toys now. Still loves her swinging chair. I'm giving her lots of fabrics to explore at the moment. She's very fond of this silver foil type can keep her entertained for ages!
She loves singing, one of the only things to make her laugh!
Bathtime
Bathtime is her favourite. She's always liked water my little Pisces ♓ we have baths together most nights. I get in the big bath and daddy hands her to me and gets her undressed and in her pj's afterwards. It's our proper family time everyday
Activities
Our weeks are quite busy, I have found that days we are stuck in are just rubbish!
Tuesday afternoon we go to baby Sensory classes which I absolutely love. Mabel is getting more and more into them too, so good for development.
Wednesday mornings we have playgroup which is cute and nice to chat to other local mothers. We take pics every week and are making her very first scrapbook!
Fridays we have baby massage which is also very beneficial and relaxing for baby. Mondays and Thursdays are good for meeting up with my birth matters ladies and seeing my family.
We like going for walks and getting lots of fresh air too! In the autumn I really want to do swimming lessons but they're very pricey so have to persuade daddy!
Occasionally she watches an episode of peppa pig, she seems to like the colours and noises. She was always going to love TV though with me as her mother
People
She loves me I think! But her other favourite is daddy, her little face lights up whenever she sees him it's adorable! She used to be very fond of granny aka my mum but recently been crying quite dramatically at her which isn't good! Hopefully will pass soon... Could possibly be because she's the only person I've left her with. But getting better as long as she doesn't pick her up bit clingy all round at the moment prefers me or daddy but also quite happy with both uncles or grandad.
Health
She hasn't been poorly yet touch wood. Her teeth are starting to cause her a bit of fuss though and she's putting everything in her mouth and drooling lots.
She's very good with jabs only crying very briefly. Last week she weighed 14 lbs so getting big, but her weight has evened out a lot compared with her monster birth weight.
So that's where we're at... Love being a mum. It's incredible how much you love them more and more every day xxx
