35 weeks! Definitely creeping up now. Although technically if you go two weeks over it could still be another 7 WEEKS! But we are not thinking like that... I absolutely believe she will come early... not massively early but possibly a week or two. I have been having lots of encouraging/crap pre labour symptoms, nothing to be worried about but things that suggest my body is preparing itself for birth. Had a horrible evening of braxton hicks at the end of last week. Really painful and fairly regular which nearly freaked me out but to be honest it was like... If I am in labour then there's nothing I can do! But I wasn't, they did stop overnight but I woke up with such a sore tummy :( felt like I'd been beaten up from the inside. I called my midwife who said it's fairly common and only if it didn't stop or some more symptoms started happening - it was just a severe case of braxton hicks... So weird though when you get one, your stomach completely sucks up and goes hard and you can see the shape of the baby. Been getting random ones the last few days too but not as bad as last week.
Also been feeling a lot of pressure in my pelvis when I walk sometimes. It can either be a sharp stabbing pain or just general pressure which I'm guessing is her head moving further downwards possibly? Or it could be my pelvis getting softer... I have my next midwife appointment next week so I will see then if she's engaging (!) I would love it if she came a week early and I went into labour all naturally. Would make me very happy as I am royally peeved off with being pregnant now. Everything seems to be hurting. I always saw pregnant ladies in films or in real life making such a song and dance of huffing and puffing and groaning with everything movement. Demanding pillows and seats and such and now I have become one of those women. Waddling and moaning like I'm the only women in the world to ever be pregnant. The only justification I have is it makes you feel slightly better having a good old moan about everything and I suppose it is your right for the next couple of weeks to need a bit of extra attention (!)
Went to my friends baby shower at the weekend which was lovely, she's having a boy so hers was a bit less pink and a bit more blue than mine :) I brought her this cute elephant doorstop as she is having an elephant theme in her nursery. There was a 12 day old baby there which I had a little cuddle with. So adorable and it's just mad to think he was inside someone's tummy just two weeks ago.
It was a busy weekend for me actually, as I also had a tour of the birth centre in Wexham on Sunday which was good. Wasn't quite as nice as Wycombe but very close. They have two birth pools - one slightly bigger and nicer than the other so hopefully that one is free when I go in... It seemed quiet when we were there but you never know on the day. You can only hope for the best. Takes about 15 minutes to get there from our house so not too stressful. Good for Sam to practice his route! I haven't packed my hospital bag yet but it's first thing on my to-do list when I'm on maternity leave...
The boiler is still broken. Which is starting to grind on us now... the annoying thing is we have ordered a new one and it's at home but we''re still waiting for another part to arrive :( it's bloody freezing. Probably the coldest week of the last year. Grrr but we're surviving and HOPEFULLY it'll be done in the next week. My last day of work is Thursday and I am really looking forward to it. Maybe I'm finishing a bit early but I'm hurting everyday now and I do want some time to do some bits around the house and just do some mental preparation before the baby. Everyone keeps telling me to get as much sleep in as possible and I'm sure I will do that too. I tried to be funny and write something on pregnant women getting to sleep here. Feel free to give it a read.
I have also written about the second trimester and reviewed my pregnancy app. If you want to read those :)
Had our class on breast feeding this week which was very useful. I really want to breastfeed. Mainly because it'll probably save you a fortune in formula but also obviously because it's very good for baby. Don't think you can get too hung up on it though. Sometimes people just don't get on with it. But I'm going to give it my best shot. Two classes left, one this Friday morning and one more next Tuesday. They've been really helpful and hopefully everyone will meet up after the babies are all born. Be crazy to see all the couples with their little people!
I've stopped weighing myself as I am just massive. I have my friends wedding this Saturday which I am a bridesmaid for. Praying my make-up is good enough to disguise my round face! I am looking forward to it so much, love a good wedding particularly when it's someone I love. It's actually the first wedding I've been too really where it's my good friend, my age (aside from my own!) as I got married first out of my group of friends. We're all grown up now really aren't we? Weddings and babies are what it's gonna be about now probably. But that's exciting too and we're still the same people just doing different stuff at the weekends.
Will hopefully have some nice pictures of the big day next week. For now you can have a picture of me and the bump from the weekend... <3
